The goal of my paper is to explore the concept of grit and how people can develop it.
As a student, like many others, I have found myself wondering what I can do to improve and be successful and my paper addresses one way to answer those thoughts.
One of the hot topics on campuses this year is “grit,” which University of Pennsylvania psychologist Angela Duckworth understands as a fusion of passion, aspiration, tenacity and resilience that launches people to success.
Her important new book, , challenges educators and institutions to see and strengthen this mind-set in our students.
With the ranges of trouble being very distinct for every walk of life.
Similarly to the way that they deal with their hardships in different ways depending from person to person and all have different levels of success.
When reading articles about grit they mainly speak about people being able to overcome financial or social issues such as income and race.
However, the factor of support in the growth of grit has little to no mention anywhere.
When asking people about what they think about grit and its development I found that they too tended put those topics on the spotlight as things that may hold people back from being grittier and successful.
Yet when support and motivation from others was mentioned they almost automatically agreed that it was next necessary for grit growth.
