First of all I have a very sincere desire to want to help and care for babies.I have to be able to watch success, and see some failures.
Their ages usually range from birth to 28 days old, but they are not limited to 28 days old, some NICU does accept babies up to 2 years of age. A NICU nurse has a very special calling from God, one who is caring, has lots of patience, and can handle any situation at any time which can be thrown at them at any time.
To be a NICU nurse, I will have to go to college for four to five years and earn a BS in nursing.
Since then, God has placed a desire in my heart to become a NICU nurse.
Some say that becoming a NICU nurse is a “calling”; I say it’s a blessing from God.
A neonatal nurse requires very high standards of competencies for the care of the newborns.
Educational eligibility criteria for this certification are registered nurse practice and Masters in Science in Nursing.
Then I have to pass the National Council Licensure Examination for RN’s to become a Registered Nurse.
Next I have to have lots of hands on training in the NICU.
First, I should decide on the college of my choice.
My choice would probably be Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, TN or Carson-Newman in Jefferson City, TN.
