By being a believer of that he refuses to be what other people want him to be, and encourages others to follow him.

He was so into individualism that he did not go to church or places with large groups of people because he thought that they were just doing that to join the crowd.

Emerson’s essay helped push me to pursue my boldest creative goal. But that wasn’t as clear when I started writing it, or when I blogged the story as a serial after countless publishers rejected it.

In 2014, I wanted to write a book of literary science fiction, called but shorter, futuristic, and based on my work on Google’s legal document review team. I wrote the book—despite my many doubts, and those of others—because I was heeding Emerson’s warning that I’d be scooped if I held off.

I have recently read Ralph Waldo Emerson’s, Self –Reliance, and have many different thoughts about the essay. He has many different thoughts that I agree with to a point and some that I just do not agree in at all.

In this paper I will argue all of the main Emerson believes that the world only does what is good when they feel they have done something wrong. And in some cases I do agree with this thought, but not fully. There are good people out there who do want to help and do everything they can to make the world a better place.Emerson thought that “great works of art have no more affecting lesson for us than this.” They show why we must trust ourselves and ”learn to detect and watch that gleam of light which flashes across [the] mind from within, more than the luster of the firmament of bards and sages.”Many others have also celebrated Emerson as offering high-minded self-help for literary types.Writing for in 2015, Dan Chiasson explains, “Emerson’s essays are like wonder handbooks …So for him to say that he thinks everyone just does good because they have done something wrong is a little extreme.Ralph Waldo Emerson is a firm believer on individualism.Emerson found it that every one is capable of making their own decisions. The Transcendentalist movement flourished in New England, and proposed a revolutionarily new philosophy of life.Emerson explicitly states his theme of trust in paragraph 18, where he explains who the Trustee is. Emerson believes that everyone should trust their intuition by disregarding consistency and conformity. These unnecessary expenditures would only detriment self-reliance, and no such actions are permissible to achieve the greatest intuition.“The magnetism which all original action exerts is explained when we inquire the reason of self-trust. In order to do this, Emerson draws upon the topic of isolationism, where each person should mentally remove his/herself from society to keep his/her intuition at its purest; “…but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude (S. Paragraph 6).” To further isolate oneself, Emerson hints that a person should become more selfish.
